Gateway development update - an easier way to manage teams 

Our latest release brings some exciting changes to how 'teams' operate within the Gateway.

Data custodians use 'teams' on the Gateway to add and edit metadata descriptions (summary information describing the datasets they hold) and manage data access requests received from registered Gateway users.

To make it easier to organise and manage a 'team' on the Gateway we have updated the custodian team management dashboard by introducing a simpler user interface and establishing some new roles. 

Harnessing the power of genomic data and technology - blog

The 5 July marked 75 years of the National Health Service. Ten years ago to the day, Genomics England was launched to deliver the 100,000 Genomes Project with the aim of accelerating research and transforming healthcare.

Since then, it has provided evidence to justify use of whole genome sequencing for individual care and now delivers this component of NHS England’s integrated Genomic Medicine Service.

The last 10 years have truly harnessed the power of genomic technology, bringing research and clinical care closer together and framing a data driven age for health and medicine.

HDR UK responds to Data access policy update

The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) published their draft Data access policy update in May 2023, opening a period of consultation (now closed) to gather feedback to inform the final version and longer-term priorities and actions for data access policy. 

Our response complements our partnership with NHS England and brings together views from across the health data science community. Our key areas of feedback are: 

• Clarification of the scope of the policy
• Linkage to non-NHS data
• The need for bold approaches to harmonised data access processes
• The role of co-design and public involvement in decision making 

Register for an account on the Gateway

Anyone can search and view datasets, Collections and other resources with or without an account, but signing up to the Gateway means you can also:

• Send enquiries and apply to access datasets
• Comment on Gateway resources, including datasets 
• Add your own resources like tools and data uses, and create and build Collections
• Apply to access advanced search methods like Cohort Discovery
