New to the Gateway?

New! Health Data Science Seminar Series with ONS

Hosted by the ONS's Data Science Campus and Health Analysis Team in partnership with HDR UK, this new seminar series provides a space for the data science community to come together and explore the potential of data science to help improve healthcare and health policy.

You'll need to be quick to register as the first session is Wednesday 14 June and focusses on health and privacy enhancing technologies, considering how modern privacy methods enable innovation in health data science.

Speakers include Ben Goldacre, Director of the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science at the University of Oxford, who developed the OpenSAFELY initiative; and Puja Myles, Director of the Clinical Practice Research Datalink service, who'll be presenting on synthetic data applications.

HDR UK shares Technician Commitment Action Plan

As signatories of the Technician Commitment, HDR UK has published their Action Plan outlining how the institute will support the vital work and careers of technologists within the health data research sector.

Emily Jefferson, Chief Technology Officer at HDR UK, said:

"Technologists and the data infrastructure, software and services they build enables the research outputs which advance our understanding of diseases, improve patient care and drive innovation in healthcare."

June conferences

Here's where you can find members of the HDR UK technology team this month! 

• We are co-organising a pre-conference workshop on Weds 14 June as part of the 6th annual UK healthcare text analytics conference HealTAC 2023 taking place later this week in Manchester.
• We are delivering one of the keynotes at N8 CIR's Digital Health Community Day taking place at the University of Leeds on Thursday 22 June. (N8 CIR is a partnership across eight universities in Northern England focussed on Computationally Intensive Research). 
• We are presenting a poster abstract about some of the Gateway's key services to date at the Advanced Pain Discovery Platform Annual Conference 2023 held at the University of Nottingham on 26 June.

Anyone can search and view datasets, Collections and other resources with or without an account, but signing up to the Gateway means you can also:

• Send enquiries and apply to access datasets
• Comment on Gateway resources, including datasets 
• Add your own resources like tools and data uses, and create and build Collections
• Apply to access advanced search methods like Cohort Discovery
