Welcome to the growing community of Gateway users accessing the UK’s only unified platform to discover and access health data sets for research and innovation.
Register for our October Data Access and Discovery webinar
This month we'll be joined by charities from across the health data research sector to discuss their work in this area.
John Nolan, Senior Health Data Scientist at the British Heart Foundation Data Science Centre will be discussing the work of their health data science team and their CVD-COVID-UK and structured data projects.
Fiachra Woodman, will also join us, Chief Technology Officer at the Brain Tumour Charity (TBTC), who will talk about their app, Brian, which has revolutionised how patients and carers record PROMS data and collaborate as a community.
Special thanks to the AMRCfor their support in organising this event.
Collections are curated around a particular theme or topic and bring together related resources such as datasets, papers, tools and data uses listed on the Gateway.
The Gateway Collection of the Month is: Mental Health
This is in support of World Mental Health Day on 10th October and part of a wider Data Saves Lives: Mental Health campaign by HDR UK focussed on the important role that data has in reducing mental health care inequalities.
The UK is home to some of the best mental health data in the world - by making it easier for researchers to find and us means that we can accelerate progress in care and address the longstanding disadvantages faced by people with mental health conditions.
This Collection includes several datasets from NHS Digital and DATAMIND - our Hub for Mental Health Informatics Research Development.
Development update - Gateway data use register widget
This month we released a widget for the data use register that can be integrated into a data custodian’s website to provide a direct link to their data uses published on the Gateway.
The Gateway data use register provides a public record to show how datasets are being used, by whom and for what purpose. The widget is available to organisations and data custodians already using the Gateway data use register and aims to provide further transparency in the use of health data for research by making data uses more accessible.
