Welcome to the growing community of Gateway users accessing the UK’s only unified platform to discover and access health data sets for research and innovation.
Have you registered for our upcoming Data Access and Discovery Workshop yet?
This session will focus on gathering feedback and sharing ideas on how we can improve the Gateway user experience - it will be an interactive style workshop with break-out rooms for smaller group activities and discussions. There will also be a chance to ask questions to the Gateway team.
Come along to our next Data Access and Discovery webinar and help us improve the Health Data Research Innovation Gateway. We have a limited number of spaces available and slots are filling up fast so be quick if you'd like to attend. We hope to see you there!
Gateway development update - an improvement to search
As part of our latest release, we are pleased to report a small but significant improvement to search. You can now apply multiple filters to enhance the results generated from a primary search - hurrah!
Here's an example to illustrate how it works. We hope the change makes it easier and more intuitive to filter a search on the Gateway, but have a go yourself and let us know what you think.
This work builds on previous improvements to search that we implemented earlier in the year, including better accuracy of results containing multiple search terms and an update to the spatial field filter to make place names clearer and easier to select.
Gateway Collections are curated around a particular theme or topic and bring together related resources such as datasets, papers, tools and data uses listed on the Gateway.
We are stealing the spotlight this month so showcase a set of Gateway-related tools!
We've designed a set of infographics that help explain some of the Gateway's key functionalities in an easy-to-understand format, including the Cohort Discovery Tool, the Data Access Request process and the Data Use Register.
We would like to share these graphical tools with our community - you can download and use them for free directly from the Gateway website. They work great as simple explainers in presentations, reports, embedded on a webpage and on social media.
What's more, you'll also find some additional resources about some of the other services and programmes available at HDR UK.
These resources are freely available for anyone to use and share, all that we ask is that you reference Health Data Research UK and the Gateway when you do.
The UK Health Data Research Alliance recently welcomed two new members, Cancer Research UK and UK Longitudinal Linkage Collaboration, taking the total number of Alliance members to 71.
Upcoming HDR UK Community Meetings
To help build partnerships and a strong, collaborative community for health data research, we are pleased to be hosting nine upcoming HDR UK community meetings across the UK. The first is in Liverpool where we will connect with our HDR UK North colleagues and community - register to attend here.
The meetings are free and open to all members of the HDR UK community. They will be attended by HDR UK’s Director, Andrew Morris, along with members of the leadership team. The Gateway team will also be present at each regional meeting so we hope to see you there!
